Faith: The Anchor in Life’s Journey
According to Hebrews 11:1, faith is the steadfast trust in God’s promises, which gives assurance in the mysteries of His providence. Abraham exemplified this virtue by submitting to God’s will, leaving his homeland, and walking in obedience. He is revered as the father of all believers. His confidence was most evident when he was willing to sacrifice Isaac, believing that God could fulfill His covenant and restore life because of His omnipotence (cf. Hebrews 11:17-19). Such unwavering faith is what our Adorable Jesus calls us to embrace, trusting in His divine providence even in uncertainty.
The Gospel recounts a moment when the disciples faced a great storm, revealing the contrast between deep faith and human fear (cf. Mark 4:35-41). As the violent winds and waves endangered their boat, they, gripped by distress, turned to our Adorable Jesus, pleading with Him and wondering if He truly cared for their plight (cf. Mark 4:38). This moment echoes Jesus’ Divine Appeal 106: “I make it known that the measure of My love and mercy for fallen souls is unlimited.” Even when storms shake our lives, His love and mercy remain ever-present, calling us to trust in Him.
True faith requires complete surrender. Like Abraham, we are called to move forward even when we do not see the way ahead. Jesus reminds us in His Divine Appeal 120: “…pray a great deal and spend this hour with Me. With your prayers restore light to souls.” Faith is not passive but active—it seeks God in prayer, perseveres in trials, and brings light to others. Just as Abraham’s faith became a blessing for generations, our faith must be a witness to the world.
In times of fear and doubt, let us remember that Jesus is always with us, calming every storm. His Divine Appeal 139 urges: “The demon is disposed to mislead souls. Pray a great deal. Bring Me Souls.” Faith, then, is not only for our salvation but for the salvation of others. As we entrust ourselves to God, may we also help others grow in faith, leading them to our Adorable Jesus, who alone is our refuge and strength.
Prayer
O our Adorable Jesus, strengthen our faith when fear overwhelms us. Teach us to trust in Your unfailing love, even in life’s storms. May we surrender completely to Your will, knowing You are always with us. Increase our love for You, and use us to bring souls to Your mercy. Amen.
