DIVINE APPEAL 236: “Suffer and learn, united with the sufferings of My Mother at the foot of the Cross. I will not abandon you until I have led you to the room of My Eternal Splendours.”
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Opening Prayer (to be said each day):
Our Adorable Jesus, Eternal Word made flesh, we come before You in humble adoration, acknowledging the triumph of Your love over sin and death. In the mystery of Your Resurrection, You opened for us the path to eternal life, and in Your divine mercy, You willed that Your Most Holy Mother, the Immaculate Virgin Mary, should be assumed body and soul into heavenly glory, untouched by the corruption of the grave.
As we begin this novena in preparation for the Solemnity of her Assumption, we ask You, Our Adorable Jesus, to inflame our hearts with a deep longing for heaven. May the glory You bestowed upon Mary be for us a sign of hope and a promise of the resurrection to come. Through her maternal intercession, grant us the grace to live in holiness, to seek the things that are above, and to walk always in the light of Your truth. You who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.
Day 1 – August 6
Theme: Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth
Scripture Reading:
“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.”
— Revelation 12:1
Reflection:
In Mary’s Assumption, we behold the fulfillment of God’s promise to raise up the lowly. Clothed in heavenly splendor, she becomes the living icon of the Church in glory. Her Queenship is not one of earthly dominion but of maternal care, intercession, and mercy. As Queen of Heaven and Earth, she is intimately close to her children, attentive to their cries. Our Adorable Jesus crowned her not merely for her dignity, but because of her humble fiat. Let us, then, trust in her powerful intercession, and walk in hope, knowing that where she has gone, we too are called to follow.
Prayer:
Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen, we believe with firm faith in your glorious Assumption into Heaven, where the choirs of angels and the assembly of saints greet you with joy, proclaiming you Queen of Heaven and Earth. We join them in praising your name and bless the Lord who lifted you above all creatures. With them, we honor you, our Mother and our Queen.
O Mary, you never cease to intercede for us before the throne of your Son. Be mindful of our needs as we entrust to you our intentions.
(Mention your request silently.)
O Mother most faithful, you are a sign of sure hope and comfort to us who still journey in this valley of tears. Strengthen our faith in the Resurrection, and help us to live in such a way that, when our earthly life is ended, we may be received into the glory you now share, and behold forever the face of Our Adorable Jesus—the blessed fruit of your womb.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Day 2 – August 7
Theme: Mary, Our Sorrowful Mother, Glorified in Heaven
Scripture Reading:
“Standing by the cross of Jesus was His mother… When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved, He said to His mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son.'”
— John 19:25–26
Reflection:
Mary’s Assumption is the divine glorification of a heart pierced by sorrow. At Calvary, she offered her Son with silent courage, standing beneath the Cross as the first and most faithful disciple. In this sorrow, she became the Mother of the Church. Our Adorable Jesus, who once laid in her arms at Bethlehem, now crowns her in Heaven. Her tears have become jewels; her wounds, gates of mercy. From her heavenly throne, she remains close to us—not distant, but ever maternal. Let us turn to her with confidence, for she who shared in the sufferings of Christ now shares in His eternal glory.
Prayer:
Mary, most holy and sorrowful, you stood by the Cross in steadfast love and perfect obedience. Now assumed into Heaven, you are clothed with the glory reserved for the faithful. We venerate you as our Mother and our Queen, knowing that your compassion for us has only increased in your glorification. We join the angels and saints in blessing the Lord, who has lifted you above all creatures. With them, we honor you, our Sorrowful Mother now exalted.
O Mary, intercede for us, and present our needs before the Heart of your Son.
(Mention your request silently.)
O Queen and Mother, teach us to suffer with grace, to trust when all seems lost, and to hope in the promise of the resurrection. May your Assumption strengthen our desire for Heaven, where you reign in splendor beside Our Adorable Jesus.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Day 3 – August 8
Theme: Mary, Crowned in Glory for Sharing in the Redemption
Scripture Reading:
“If we have died with Him, we shall also live with Him; if we persevere, we shall also reign with Him.”
— 2 Timothy 2:11–12
Reflection:
Mary’s share in the mysteries of redemption did not end at Calvary—it found its fulfillment in her Assumption and coronation. Because she united her entire being—body, soul, mind, and will—to the saving mission of Our Adorable Jesus, the Father crowned her with incomparable glory. In Heaven, she does not rest from her maternal mission. Rather, clothed in the light of the Risen Christ, she continues to intercede with power and tenderness. Her glorified presence assures us that holiness is possible, and that fidelity to grace will be rewarded. Let us fly to her with childlike trust, confident in her heavenly intercession.
Prayer:
O Mother, Assumed into Heaven, because you shared so intimately in all the mysteries of our redemption here below, Jesus has now crowned you with everlasting glory. In you we see the reward of faith, the triumph of grace, and the perfect image of the Church in splendor. You are clothed with the sun, crowned with stars, and embraced eternally by the love of the Blessed Trinity.
With your most glorious and powerful intercession, help us, O loving Mother, and present to Jesus our humble requests.
(Mention your request silently.)
O Mary, you are our advocate and our Queen. Be with us in every trial, and lead us into ever deeper communion with your Son. May your Assumption remind us that our true homeland is not here, but in Heaven, where you now reign with Our Adorable Jesus.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Day 4 – August 9
Theme: Mary, Queen Among the Saints and Mother of Grace
Scripture Reading:
“Who is this that comes forth like the dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an army in battle array?”
— Song of Songs 6:10
Reflection:
In the communion of saints, Mary holds a singular and exalted place—not only because she is the Mother of God, but because she is also the Mother of all the redeemed. Crowned with heavenly glory, she intercedes unceasingly for her children, distributing graces won by Our Adorable Jesus on the Cross. Though she surpasses all saints in holiness, she remains near to us in love, attentive to every cry of the heart. She is our Queen and Advocate, whose intercession never fails. In every season of need, we run to her, confident that through her maternal prayer, we will be drawn closer to Christ.
Prayer:
O Dearest Mother Mary, Assumed into Heaven, you now dwell in glory surrounded by the company of saints and angels, radiant with the light of your Son. In the midst of Heaven’s splendor, you remain mindful of us, your children on earth. As Queen of the Saints, you are dearer to the heart of God than any other creature, for you bore His Eternal Son and never ceased to serve His will with perfect love.
You pray for us with a heart full of mercy and compassion, and you lovingly pour out upon us every grace won by our loving Savior through His holy Cross. Please intercede for us in our needs, and ask Jesus to grant our request if it be for the good of our souls.
(Mention your request silently.)
O Mary, our Mother and Queen, help us to live with eyes fixed on Heaven, where you reign in joy. Teach us to desire holiness, to trust in divine providence, and to surrender everything into the hands of Our Adorable Jesus.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Day 5 – August 10
Theme: Mary, Mirror of Heavenly Beauty and Desire of the Pure in Heart
Scripture Reading:
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
— Colossians 3:2–3
Reflection:
The beauty of Mary, assumed into Heaven, is not of passing charm but of eternal purity—radiant with the grace of God and the glory of perfect love. Her Assumption draws our hearts upward, away from the vanity of this world, toward the splendor of the life to come. In her, the soul perceives the reward of virtue and the destiny of all who are faithful to Christ. Our struggles in this valley of tears are real, but her merciful gaze strengthens the weak and lifts the fallen. Let us look to her, desiring not the fleeting pleasures of earth, but the everlasting joy of Heaven.
Prayer:
O merciful and loving Mother, Assumed into glory, may the vision of your heavenly beauty inflame our hearts with a holy distaste for the empty allurements of this world. Let your radiant example stir within us an ardent longing for the joy that never ends, the joy found only in union with God.
Turn your merciful eyes upon us, O kind Mother, and behold our struggles, our weaknesses, and our tears. You know the trials of our human condition. Hear then, loving Mother, our humble request, and plead for us before the throne of your Son.
(Mention your request silently.)
O Mary, clothe us here on earth with the pure robe of grace and innocence, that we may be preserved in virtue. And when our journey is done, crown us with the unfading garments of immortality and glory in the courts of Heaven, where you reign with Our Adorable Jesus.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Day 6 – August 11
Theme: Mary, Our Queen and Mother of Total Surrender
Scripture Reading:
“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual worship.”
— Romans 12:1
Reflection:
Mary, the Handmaid of the Lord, teaches us what it means to surrender everything to God. In her Assumption, we see the reward of a heart that withheld nothing—not in suffering, not in joy, not in love. Everything in her was “yes” to the Divine Will. She received every grace as a gift and returned it entirely for the glory of God. Our Adorable Jesus was formed in her womb, and through her intercession, He continues to form us in grace. Let us, then, entrust our hearts into her gentle hands, so that she may purify, offer, and return them to God, from whom all goodness flows.
Prayer:
Mary, our dearest Mother and mighty Queen, we come before you today in humility and love. Take and receive our poor hearts, with all their desires, all their freedom, and all the love we are capable of. Accept also whatever virtues or graces we possess or hope to gain. Let every part of our being—body, soul, mind, and will—be placed entirely at the service of God.
All we are and all we may become, all we have and hold both by nature and by grace, we acknowledge as gifts received through your loving intercession. Help us, dear Mother, to surrender all to God without fear or hesitation, including the intentions we now silently offer.
(Mention your request silently.)
O Mary, our Lady and our Queen, into your immaculate and gentle hands we entrust all that we are and all that we love. May you purify it, guard it, and return it to its noble origin in the Heart of the Father, through the Sacred Heart of Our Adorable Jesus.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Day 7 – August 12
Theme: Mary, Queen of Every Heart and Mother of Divine Love
Scripture Reading:
“I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.”
— Song of Songs 6:3
Reflection:
Mary is Queen not by command but by love. Her reign is maternal and interior, inviting every soul to be united to her Immaculate Heart so that it may belong more fully to Jesus. Her Assumption confirms the destiny of those who live not for themselves, but for God. She who gave flesh to the Eternal Word now desires to give Him birth in us through grace. When we say, “I belong to Jesus through Mary,” we surrender to the divine order God Himself established. In consecrating ourselves to her, we allow her to form us into true disciples of her Son—free, faithful, and aflame with love.
Prayer:
Mary, Queen of every heart, accept us entirely as your own. Take all that we are—our thoughts, desires, wounds, and hopes—and bind us to Jesus with the bonds of divine love, that we may belong to Him more completely through you. Teach us to say with sincerity and peace: “I belong to Jesus through Mary.”
O Mother, Assumed into Heaven, ever-Virgin and Queen of the Universe, look kindly upon our petitions. If what we ask be for the glory of God and the good of our souls, obtain it for us through your powerful intercession.
(Mention your request silently.)
O Mary, our Mother and our Queen, enkindle within us a greater love for your Son and for your Immaculate Heart. May your presence in Heaven not distance you from us, but draw us ever closer to the life of grace. With you, may we walk the path that leads to the Heart of Our Adorable Jesus.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Day 8 – August 13
Theme: Mary, Queen Through Her Fiat and Mother of the Savior
Scripture Reading:
“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word.”
— Luke 1:38
Reflection:
Mary’s greatness does not arise from earthly status, but from her total surrender to the will of God. Her fiat—uttered in silence and trust—opened Heaven and brought forth the Savior of the world. Through her obedience, the Word became flesh, and salvation entered time. Now assumed into glory and crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth, she continues to intercede for us as Mother of divine grace. Her power flows from her humility, and her glory is rooted in her yes. Let us ask her to form in us the same docility to the Holy Spirit, that our lives, too, may bear Christ to the world.
Prayer:
Mary, Queen Assumed into Heaven, we rejoice in your glory and we honor you as the Queen of Heaven and Earth. You gave your holy fiat to the Father, and through your obedience, became the Mother of our Redeemer. In you we see what it means to live entirely for God—empty of self, yet full of grace.
Obtain for us peace and salvation through your ceaseless prayers, for you have brought into the world Christ our Lord, the Savior of all humankind. Intercede for us now, dear Mother, and bring our petitions before the throne of your Son.
(Mention your request silently.)
O Mary, through your prayers, may our souls be filled with a burning desire to be like you—a humble vessel of the Holy Spirit and a faithful servant of the Almighty God. Teach us to listen, to obey, and to love without measure, so that in us, too, the Word may dwell and bear fruit.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Day 9 – August 14
Theme: Mary, Assumed into Glory—Our Sign of Triumph and Final Hope
Scripture Reading:
“Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
— 1 Corinthians 2:9
Reflection:
In the Assumption of Mary, the Church contemplates her final victory—the culmination of a life entirely given to God. Her body, unstained by sin, was not left to corruption but was lifted into eternal light. She, who bore Our Adorable Jesus in time, now beholds Him in unending glory. For us, her children, she is the radiant dawn of what is to come: the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Her Assumption speaks to every longing heart—reminding us that Heaven is not a dream, but a promise. And she, our Mother and Queen, walks with us until the veil is lifted and we too see God face to face.
Prayer:
O Blessed Mother, Assumed into Heaven, after your earthly journey of love, sorrow, and fidelity, we rejoice that you now reign in the glory prepared for those who are wholly God’s. Yours was a life poured out in silence, obedience, and hidden martyrdom—now clothed in splendor that no eye on earth has seen.
Lift our hearts above the passing shadows of this world. Strengthen us to live as pilgrims, with Heaven in our gaze and holiness as our path. Teach us to despise sin, to love purity, and to desire nothing less than eternal union with your Son. May the memory of your Assumption purify our hopes and prepare our souls for the day when, by grace, we too shall rise.
From this valley of tears, we raise our voices to you. Hear our prayer, Most Tender Mother, and present our needs to your beloved Son.
(Mention your request silently.)
And when our hour of death arrives, O Mary, do not abandon us. Stand beside us as you did beneath the Cross. Take us by the hand and lead us safely to the radiant presence of Jesus, that we may adore Him forever in the glory you now share.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
Closing Prayer (to be said each day):
O Most Holy Mary, Assumed into the glory of Heaven, we lift our hearts to you with awe and love. You, who bore the Eternal Word and adored Him in silence, now behold His Eucharistic Face in unending light. As Queen of Heaven and Mother of the Church, draw us ever closer to your Son, truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
Teach us to love the Eucharist with reverent hearts, to adore Him in stillness, and to receive Him with purity and desire. Help us walk the path of humility, prayer, and reparation, that our lives may be consumed by charity and transformed by grace.
O Virgin most faithful, protect the Church in these dark times, strengthen us to remain steadfast, and lead us safely to our eternal home. There, with you, may we praise forever the glory of the Lamb.
O Queen Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.
Amen.
