Patronage:
St. Benedict of Nursia is the patron saint of Europe, monks, students, and those seeking protection against evil, curses, and poison. Renowned for his Rule and deep life of prayer, he is especially invoked for peace of mind, strength in faith, and spiritual defense, making him a powerful intercessor for those in need of guidance and protection.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Opening Prayer (to be said each day):
Glorious St. Benedict, who showed us the path to holiness through self-denial, mortification, humility, obedience, prayer, silence, solitude, and detachment from the world, I kneel before you and humbly ask you to take my present need under your special protection (mention your request here).
Please present it to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and place it before the throne of Jesus. Do not cease to intercede for me until my prayer is granted. Above all, obtain for me the grace to one day behold God face to face, and with you, Mary, and all the angels and saints, to praise Him for all eternity.
O most powerful St. Benedict, do not let me lose my soul, but help me by your prayers to reach heaven, where I may adore and rejoice in the most holy and adorable Trinity forever and ever.
Amen.
Daily Novena Prayer
Glorious Saint Benedict, sublime model of virtue, pure vessel of God’s grace!
Behold me humbly kneeling at your feet. I implore you, in your loving kindness, to pray for me before the throne of God.
To you I have recourse in the dangers that daily surround me.
Shield me against my selfishness and my indifference to God and to my neighbor.
Inspire me to imitate you in all things.
May your blessing be with me always, so that I may see and serve Christ in others and work for His kingdom.
Graciously obtain for me from God those favors and graces which I need so much in the trials, miseries, and afflictions of life.
Your heart was always full of love, compassion, and mercy toward those who were afflicted or troubled in any way.
You never dismissed without consolation and assistance anyone who had recourse to you.
I therefore invoke your powerful intercession, confident in the hope that you will hear my prayer and obtain for me the special grace and favor I earnestly implore:
(Mention your request here…)
Help me, great Saint Benedict, to live and die as a faithful child of God,
to run in the sweetness of His loving will,
and to attain the eternal happiness of heaven.
Amen.
Closing Prayer (to be said each day):
Admirable Saint and Doctor of Humility, you lived what you taught, praying faithfully for God’s glory and carrying out every task with love for God and for all people. You know the many dangers that surround us today, often brought about by human inventions. Protect me from harm to body, mind, and soul, and keep me safe from all that poisons or tempts. Be truly a blessed protector for me, St. Benedict.
Dear St. Benedict, your very name means “blessing,” and you were indeed a blessing to the Church. By living what you preached, you founded the monastic tradition of the West, uniting prayer with labor for God in both liturgical worship and personal prayer. Help all religious men and women to remain faithful to their Rule and to their vocation. May they pray and work for the world, to the greater glory of God.
Help me, great St. Benedict, to live and die as a faithful child of God, to run joyfully in the sweetness of His will, and to reach the eternal happiness of heaven.
Amen.
