Novena to the Annunciation of the Lord

Start Date: March 16
End Date: March 24
Feast Day: March 25

Patronage: Protection of the unborn, vocations and trust in God’s plan.

Daily Intention: For the conversion of souls and reparation for sins committed against the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening Prayer (to be said each day):

O Adorable Jesus, Eternal Word of the Father, at the Annunciation, You took flesh in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary, embracing human nature to redeem us. In the hiddenness of that moment, You began the journey of our salvation, humbling Yourself so that we might be raised to the life of grace. We adore You, Jesus, truly present from the first instant of Your Incarnation and now abiding with us in the Blessed Sacrament. Deepen our love for Your Real Presence, that we may worship You with living faith and console You with acts of reparation.

We come before You, Lord, placing our hearts and intentions into Your merciful hands. Hear the silent cries of our souls and grant us the grace to trust in Your divine will. As we lift our petitions to You, we pray not for our own desires, but that all may be accomplished according to Your plan for our salvation. (Pause briefly to mention your personal intentions.)

O Mary, Mother of the Word Incarnate, you received the angel’s message with humility and surrendered to God’s will without hesitation. Teach us to follow your example, responding to God’s call in our lives with faith and courage. Guide us to remain close to Jesus, especially in the Blessed Sacrament, and to live each day as true servants of the Lord.

Amen.

Day 1: The Angel’s Greeting

Bible Verse:
“Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you.” (cf. Luke 1:28)

Reflection:
The Angel Gabriel’s greeting reveals that Mary was already filled with God’s grace, chosen to bear His Son. This moment shows us that God’s call is always preceded by His grace. Like Mary, we must allow God’s grace to fill our hearts so we can respond to His will.

Prayer:
O Adorable Jesus, we praise You for choosing Mary, full of grace, to bring You into the world. Grant that we may always open our hearts to Your grace, so we may bear the fruits of holiness. May Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament be the source of our strength and the light guiding our daily lives.

O Mary, full of grace, help us to surrender ourselves to God’s will, trusting that His grace is sufficient. Inspire us to live in constant awareness of His presence, so that our lives may reflect His glory.

Amen.

Day 2: Do Not Be Afraid

Bible Verse:
“Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” (cf. Luke 1:30)

Reflection:
Fear often grips our hearts when we face the unknown, but God’s words to Mary are the same ones He speaks to us today: Do not be afraid. His favor rests upon us not because of our merits, but because of His infinite mercy. Trusting in God dispels fear and opens us to His peace.

Prayer:
O Adorable Jesus, when fear clouds our hearts, remind us that Your love is greater than all our anxieties. May Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament be our constant assurance that You are with us. Grant us the courage to follow Your will, even when the path seems uncertain.

O Mary, who trusted in God’s favor despite your fears, strengthen us to walk by faith and not by sight. Help us to abandon our worries into God’s hands, knowing that His plans for us are always good.

Amen.

Day 3: The Name of Jesus

Bible Verse:
“You will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.” (cf. Luke 1:31)

Reflection:
The name “Jesus” means God saves. From the first moment of His Incarnation, the mission of our Adorable Jesus was clear: to save souls. Each time we call upon His holy name, we proclaim His power and mercy. Let us speak His name with reverence, especially as we adore Him in the Blessed Sacrament.

Prayer:
O Adorable Jesus, Your name is our hope and salvation. May we never speak it without love and awe. As we adore You in the Blessed Sacrament, help us to call upon Your name with confidence, knowing that You are always ready to save and forgive.

O Mary, you first spoke the name of Jesus with love and tenderness. Teach us to honor His name in our words and actions, so that our lives may proclaim His saving power.

Amen.

Day 4: Mary’s Question

Bible Verse:
“How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?” (cf. Luke 1:34)

Reflection:
Mary’s question was not rooted in doubt but in wonder. She sought to understand God’s will, trusting in His plan even when it seemed beyond human comprehension. In our own lives, we may not always understand God’s ways, but like Mary, we are called to ask with faith and accept His answer with trust.

Prayer:
O Adorable Jesus, when we face mysteries in our lives, grant us hearts like Mary’s — humble, questioning with faith, and open to Your will. May Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament teach us to trust even when we do not fully understand.

O Mary, guide us in moments of confusion. Help us to seek God’s will with sincere hearts, and to embrace His plans even when they seem beyond our grasp.

Amen.

Day 5: The Power of the Holy Spirit

Bible Verse:
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.” (cf. Luke 1:35)

Reflection:
The Incarnation was the work of the Holy Spirit — the same Spirit who moves within us today. Just as Mary became the living tabernacle of Jesus through the Spirit, we too are called to let the Spirit overshadow our hearts, filling us with divine love and strength.

Prayer:
O Adorable Jesus, send forth Your Holy Spirit to transform our hearts. As You dwell in the Blessed Sacrament, let Your Spirit renew us, purify us, and inspire us to live holy lives. May we become vessels of Your love and grace.

O Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, help us to be open to His workings in our souls. Teach us to listen to His promptings and follow His guidance with trust and humility.

Amen.

Day 6: The Son of God

Bible Verse:
“Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.” (cf. Luke 1:35)

Reflection:
At the Annunciation, the eternal Son of God took on flesh within Mary’s womb. This union of divinity and humanity shows God’s deep desire to be near us. He continues to draw close to us in the Blessed Sacrament, hidden yet truly present, inviting us to adore and love Him.

Prayer:
O Adorable Jesus, Son of the living God, we kneel before Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament, in awe of Your humility and love. May we never take Your nearness for granted but adore You with hearts full of love.

O Mary, Mother of the Son of God, guide us into deeper adoration of Jesus. Help us to recognize His presence in the Eucharist and to honor Him with our entire being.

Amen.

Day 7: Nothing Is Impossible

Bible Verse:
“For nothing will be impossible with God.” (cf. Luke 1:37)

Reflection:
The Annunciation reminds us that no situation is beyond God’s power. What seemed impossible — a virgin bearing the Son of God — became a reality through His will. When we face trials or doubts, we must hold onto the truth that God’s power has no limits.

Prayer:
O Adorable Jesus, strengthen our faith when we are tempted to despair. May Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament remind us that You are always near, working in our lives even when we do not see it. Let us trust in Your infinite power and mercy.

O Mary, who trusted in God’s omnipotence, inspire us to believe in the miracles God can work within and around us. Help us to surrender our struggles to His perfect will.

Amen.

Day 8: Mary’s Fiat

Bible Verse:
“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word.” (cf. Luke 1:38)

Reflection:
Mary’s “yes” changed the course of history. Her fiat teaches us that true freedom is found in surrender to God’s will. When we offer ourselves completely to Him, He can work wonders in our lives, just as He did through Mary.

Prayer:
O Adorable Jesus, we give You our “yes” today. May Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament strengthen our resolve to follow You, surrendering all we are to Your will. Let our hearts echo Mary’s fiat each day.

O Mary, Handmaid of the Lord, intercede for us. Teach us to embrace God’s will with love, trusting that His plans lead to eternal joy.

Amen.

Day 9: The Word Became Flesh

Bible Verse:
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (cf. John 1:14)

Reflection:
The Incarnation is the greatest expression of God’s love — He became man for our salvation. Today, He remains with us in the Blessed Sacrament, still hidden, still inviting us to draw near. Let us adore the Word made flesh and surrender our hearts fully to Him.

Prayer:
O Adorable Jesus, we praise You for taking on flesh and dwelling among us. May we always honor Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. Draw us close to You, so that we may love You more each day.

O Mary, Mother of the Incarnate Word, lead us ever closer to Jesus. Help us to live in constant adoration of His presence in our lives.

Amen.

Closing Prayer (to be said each day):

O Adorable Jesus, Divine Word who became flesh for our salvation, we thank You for the gift of this time in prayer. As we offer these days of devotion in honor of Your holy Annunciation, deepen within us the spirit of true surrender to Your will. Just as You took on our human nature through the mystery of the Incarnation, transform our hearts to mirror Yours — loving, merciful, and ever longing for the salvation of souls. May Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament be the light that guides our every thought, word, and deed.

Lord, we lift up our intentions to You (mention your intention), trusting in Your boundless mercy. Accept our humble prayers in reparation for sins committed against Your Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. Pour forth Your grace upon all souls, especially those far from You, so that they may be drawn back into the embrace of Your love.

O Mary, Mother of the Incarnate Word, we turn to you with confidence. You who gave your perfect “yes” inspire us to abandon ourselves fully to God’s divine will. Wrap us in your maternal care and intercede for us, that we may remain faithful to Jesus and steadfast in our mission to bring souls to Him. Lead us ever closer to His Real Presence, so that united with you, we may glorify His name forever.

Amen.
